This is a Swiss pocket watch made for the American market
Movement – the high grade nickel Bridge movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Gruen Watch Co, Veri Thin, Precision, Switzerland, 17 Jewels, Adjusted Temperature, Suisse”# 551346. The movement has gold train wheels, and a capped escape wheel and a raised gold jewel setting on the centre wheel. The movement is in 95% mint condition – small marks only
Case – the movement comes in a 14K gold filled open face case, which has a snap off back and bezel. The inside of the back cover is signed “Gruen Watch Co, 14K gold filled”. The case a smooth finish and an enamel crest on the back for Kelvinator with “Pioneer Club Awarded to John J Compton, for distinguished service 1936”. The case is in 95% mint condition – a superb example
Dial – the blue paint on metal dial has gilt hands and lettering. The dial is signed “Gruen Veri Thin Precision” and is in 80% mint condition – several spots where the paint is lifting
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 44mm wide x 8mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
