This is a particularly heavy pocket watch as it comes in a massive 4 oz fine silver case.
This is an American Rail road pocket watch made by the Illinois Watch Co
Movement – the ultra high grade nickel full plate movement has a micrometer regulator, large gold jewel settings and is decorated with fine damascening. The movement is signed “Bunn Special, Springfield, Ill, 21 Ruby Jewels, Adjusted Temperature 6 positions, isochronism, jewelled barrel” # 1823939 and is in 95% mint condition – on close inspection there is one fine scratch
Case – the movement comes in a massive 4 oz fine silver case signed “Hercules”
The case has a screw off bezel and the movement swings out from the front. The case has a smooth plain finish with an attractive gold finish inside the bezel. The case is in 95% mint condition – micro fine scratches only, a very good case
Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and is in the correct Gothic script for a Bunn Special. The dial has a full set of blue steel hands with a rare red painted second time zone hand. The dial is signed “Illinois Watch Co” and is in 95% mint condition – a very faint hairline near the 2 and lever slot, plus a tiny one under the sub seconds dial.
The watch has a thick bevelled mineral glass
The watch is stem wound / lever set
The watch measures 61mm wide x 22mm deep – a large heavy watch
