    About this item

This is a superb example of an English silver pair case in 100% original condition by the esteemed maker Jas McCabe. It has clear hallmarks for London 1810

This watch has a fusee chain driven movement. These types of movements are extremely fragile and it is very easy to break the fusee chain if you have never handled one of these watches before and so consequently we do not cover this costly repair in the warranty.

Movement – the gilt full plate verge movement has a fusee chain with a verge escapement. The movement also has a beautifully pierced and engraved watch cock decorated with an engraved grotesque face and finished with a diamond endstone. The movement is signed “Jas McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, 6978”. The movement is in 95% mint condition – with just light wear only

The movement has its original gilt dust cap

Inner case – the movement comes in an inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound from the back, set from the front and is accessed from the front also. The case has its original bow and stem and is numbered 6978. It has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition

Outer case – the original and matching outer case has nice watch paper from Ambleside. It has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – a superb example only missing the dome on the catch

Dial – the white enamel dial has its original pair of gold hands plus a blue steel and gold sub seconds hand. The dial is numbered 6978 and is in 99% mint condition – light marks and scratches only

The watch has a bulls eye mineral glass

The watch measures 56mm wide x 24mm high including the glass

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old brass key
