    About this item

This is a very fine example of a high quality dress watch made in the Art Deco style in the 1930s.

The watch comes in a heavy platinum case finished with a sapphire cabochon on the winder

The watch comes with an evaluation / appraisal performed in America in 1994 with a value of $6500

The watch also comes in a superb velvet box. The box is signed Gruen but the watch fits so perfectly I suspect that this box is original and was retailed by Gruen.

Movement – the nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement and a micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “Longines Watch Co, Swiss, Three Adjustments, 15 Jewels” # 4870857. The movement is also marked under the balance “17 89 ABC”.

The movement is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a heavy platinum open face case, which has a snap on back and bezel. The case has a very stylish bow and the winder is set with a cabochon cut sapphire. The case is stamped “Platinum” on the inside of the back cover and the case is in 95% mint condition.

Dial – the silvered dial has a pair of blue steel Breguet style hands and a sub seconds. The dial is signed “Longines” and is in 99% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 45mm wide x 10mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set

The watch comes in a velvet and gilt metal box and appraisal from 1994 for $6500.
