Antique Roskopf pocket watch with a case by Hugyenin c1890

This is a Swiss pocket watch made by Roskopf. The super feature of this watch is the case. The back of the case is decorated with a highly detailed scene of farm workers and is signed by Hugyenin. This case maker made cases which really are a work of art and in very small numbers. In 30 years of handling 1000’s of watches I have never seen this case variation before

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Repasse en Secundo”. The movement is in 75% mint condition – many small marks

Case – the movement comes in a white metal case, which has a hinged inner and back cover and a snap on bezel. The case is decorated with carved edges and flowers.  The back of the case is decorated with a scene of farm workers brining the hay in with a house and church in the background. The detailing is exquisite and of the highest quality. The case is signed “Hugyenin” and is in 95% mint condition

Dial – the white enamel dial has a pair of gilt filigree hands. The dial is signed “Chronometre Qualitie Superieure” and is decorated with red enamel numbers and lettering and gold points.

The dial is in 80% mint condition – cracks on the 1 and 7 and hairline from the 12 to the centre

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 55mm wide x 17mm deep

The watch is stem wound / pin set.
