About this item
This pocket watch movement was made in America by the Waltham watch company in 1917 and was specifically made for the UK market. It was sent to the UK where it was cased and sold in an English full hunter case which has clear English silver hallmarks for Birmingham 1918
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and 7 Jewels. It is signed “American Waltham, USA, Traveler” # 21112780. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a 2 ounce English silver full hunter case by Dennison which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover DOES not pop open to 90 degrees when you press the winder in you have to lift the front cover manually and this is reflected in the low price. The case has coin edged sides, engine turning and a vacant crest on the front. The case is in 90% mint condition – some light signs of wear and the front cover opens manually.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Waltham, USA” The dial is in 99% mint condition – a tiny hairline on the 12
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 52mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
