    About this item

This is an English silver pocket watch which has clear hallmarks for London 1857

The watch has been cleaned and serviced and keeps excellent time for a watch of this age.

However this is an English silver pocket watch with a fusee chain driven movement. These types of movements are extremely fragile and it is very easy to break the fusee chain if you have never handled one of these watches before and so consequently we do not cover this costly repair in the warranty.

Movement – the gilt ¾  plate fusee movement has a lever escapement and a gold balance wheel. The movement is signed “Chas Frodsham, 84 Strand, London” 9620. The movement is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example but some light small scratches

Case – the movement comes in an English silver full hunter case, which has a hinged front cover, back and bezel. The watch is wound from the back, set from the front and the movement is accessed from the front also.

The font will pop open to 45 degrees when you press the case button in but needs some assistance.

The case is decorated with engine turning and is in 85% mint condition – small bruises and marks and general wear

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Arnols, Chas Frodsham, London. The dial is in 95% mint condition – a small hairline by the 6

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 49mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old key
