Most of the watches in my “Watches for restoration section” were purchased with a view to clean and service them and list them in my main section. However, when I inspect a watch if I find one or two faults then I list them here and this watch is one of those examples

The watch runs well but has not been cleaned or serviced

The watch case has numerous bruises on the back and enamel loss on the chapter ring.

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “J W Benson, 15 Jewels, Adjusted, Swiss Made”. The movement is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in an English silver half hunter case by Benson which has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.

The case has blue enamel numbers on the front cover and a smooth plain finish on the rest of the case. The case is in 80% mint condition – enamel loss on the front cover, bruises on the back and tarnish also

Dial – the white enamel dial has a blue steel hands and is signed “JW Benson London, Swiss Made”. The dial is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep

The watch is stem wound / stem set
