English silver vintage Rolex pocket watch. Extra Prima c1927

This is genuine Rolex pocket watch made in Switzerland and sent to England where it was cased and sold. The English silver case has hallmarks for Birmingham 1927

The watch is that bit better than other examples you see for the English market. First the movement is a signed Extra Prima movement. Then the case is also stamped “W & D” – “Wilsdorf & Davis Ltd” – the original founder of Rolex. Finally the dial is also signed “Rolex” – many Rolexes made for the English market do not have a signed dial

Movement – the high quality nickel bridge movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and a capped escape wheel. The movement is signed “Rolex Extra Prima, Swiss Made, 17 Rubies, Timed Six positions and temperature.” There is a serial number under the balance which looks like it is 741433. The movement is in 90% mint condition – light scratches and marks

Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and bezel. The Dennison silver case is also stamped “W&D”. It has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light surface scratches only

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Rolex” and is in 100% mint condition – even the blue steel hands have their original bloom

The watch has a synthetic glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 15mm deep
