Massive 4 oz silver cased 21J Waltham Crescent St pocket watch c1901

This is an 18 size 21 jewel Railroad grade pocket watch by the Waltham Watch Co, USA circa 1901

It comes in a massive 4 oz coin silver case

Movement – the model 1892 full plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator. The movement has raised gold jewel settings and is decorated with damascening. The movement is signed Crescent St, Waltham, Mass, 21 Jewels, Adjusted” 10567054. The movement is in 85% mint condition – several scratches and marks on the winding wheels

Case – the movement comes in a heavy and massive coin silver case which is marked on the inner cover with a 4 which denotes 4 ounces of silver. The case has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The case has thick sides and a thick gauge. The case is decorated on the back with an engraved name but this is rubbed and no longer legible. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 80% mint condition – the case is a good case just let down by the rubbing to the engraving

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Waltham” and is in 98% mint condition

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch is stem wound / lever set

The watch measures 59mm wide x 21mm deep
