Rare 16 size 21 Jewel Illinois A Lincoln Hunter pocket watch. c1900

This is an American Rail road pocket watch made by the Illinois Watch Co. It is a 21 Jewel model and particularly rare as it is a hunter model.

This watch was made in a run of 200 with a total production of 1600.

The watch also comes in an attractive gold plated hunter case.

Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a micrometer regulator, large gold jewel settings and is decorated with fine damascening. The movement is signed “A Lincoln, Illinois Watch Co, Springfield, 21 Jewels, Adjusted 5 positions” # 2430085 and is in 95% mint condition – in superb condition

Case – the movement comes in an attractive gold plated full hunter, pocket watch case which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.

The case is ornately decorated with chased edges and a smooth plain finish on the sides. Each cover is decorated with an engraved Art nouveau floral design which has then been polished to a mirror finish. This set against a background of engine turning. On the back there is a small engraved pastoral scene.

The case is in 95% mint condition – the case is in superb condition.

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and is in the correct Gothic script for this model. The dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Illinois Watch Co”. The dial is in 95% mint condition – a small chip to the copper on the 4-5 where the lever is which has created a single hairline

The watch has a fine mineral glass – this does have a small rectangular flaw

The watch is stem wound  / lever set

The watch measures 51mm wide x 13mm deep
