    About this item

This watch is sold in our Watches for restoration section and does not come with a warranty. If you are looking for watch with a full warranty, please go to our Stock page or ask for assistance to find what you are looking for.

This pocket watch has clear hallmarks for London 1777

This watch has a good balance and chain but is fully wound and is not running the full length of its chain. It will tick dial down but not dial up. Also the hands are not sitting correctly on the dial. The hour hand is not gripping the pinion and is loose and the minute hand is a poor fit and sits right on the top of the pinion not allowing you to set the hands with a key.

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has square baluster pillars and a pierced watch cock with an engraved foot. The movement also has a blue steel regulator disc and is signed “D Edmonds, Liverpool” # 638. The movement is in 95% mint condition – a lovely example

Inner case – the movement comes in a silver inner case, which has a hinged bezel and the watch is wound from the back and set from the front and the movement is accessed from the front also. The case is engraved on the back “Jacob Stanley”. It has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – the usual evidence of a repair around the stem inside the case. The rest of the case has small dings and dents.

Outer case – the movement comes in its original silver outer case, which has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition. The dome on the button on the clasp is missing, although the clasp is fine and there are some small soft bruises

Dial – the white enamel dial has its original pair of blue steel beetle and poker hands but these are not sitting correctly. The hour hand is not gripping the pinion and is loose and the minute hand is a poor fit and sits right on the top of the pinion not allowing you to set the hands with a key.

The dial is in 90% mint condition – there are any scratches which have gone dirty with age plus a small flaked / chip in the centre around the dial hole

The watch has a bulls eye mineral glass

The watch measures 50mm wide x 25mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an old key
