    About this item

This is a superb example of a gold plated hunter case made in the late 1890s in America

The movement was made by the Keystone Watch Co, USA and also has the rare feature of a patent dust free cover on the movement, a patent dust cap and also a patent winder on the case.

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate 15 Jewel movement has a very unusual micrometer regulator and the balance and lever are covered by a patent dust proof cover with just a small window showing the balance. The movement is signed “Keystone Watch Co, Patent Dust Proof, Pat Reg, Pat SW, 341009”. The movement has a gold flash to the gilding and is decorated with light damascening. The movement is in 90% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a rare gold plated hunter case, which has a patented crown – it is not the usual domed or ball shaped. It is round but flatter and the edges are more pronounced making it easier for gripping and winding.

The case has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has an unusual gold plated logo of a horse shoe, 3 leaf clover and 3 acorns. The case is decorated with coin edged sides and floral engraving front and back; the front has a vacant crest and the back is decorated with an engraved stag. The case is in 95% mint condition – an absolutely stunning case, which actually looks like and feels like solid gold but is gold plated.

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. It is signed “Keystone Watch Co” and is in 95% mint condition – there is a little hairline cluster on the 10

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 54mm wide x 18mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set
