    About this item

This is a superb example of a gold plated hunter case made in the late 1890s in America

The movement was made by the Peoria Watch Co, USA. The company was in business for around 4 years and made very few watches.

Movement – the nickel ¾ plate 15 Jewel movement has a very unusual micrometer regulator. The movement is signed “Peoria Watch Co, 15 Jewels, Standard, Anti Magnetic, Adjusted” 17171. The movement is decorated with damascening and is in 90% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a beautiful gold plated hunter case.

The case has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case is decorated with coin edged sides and floral engraving and engine turning front and back; the front has a small engraved pastoral scene, the back is decorated with additional floral engraving. The case is in 95% mint condition – an absolutely stunning case, which actually looks like and feels like solid gold but is gold plated. It has some minor rubbing on parts of the engine turning back and front

Dial – the white enamel dial has mismatched blue steel hands. It is signed “Peoria, Ill” and is in 75% mint condition – unfortunately there are many hairlines on the lower half of the dial around the sub seconds

The watch has a synthetic glass

The watch measures 54mm wide x 19mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set.
