About this item
This is an American pocket watch made by Waltham and was made for the UK market with the rare variation of a non luminous dial and is marked Non-Lum on the back. These watches were used by Nato on nuclear submarines.
In over 30 years of dealing with watches I have only ever seen these examples in books
Movement – nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Waltham Premier, 16s, USA, Nine Jewels, Adj Temp 3 pos” # 31235100. The movement is in 99% mint condition – superb condition
Case – the movement comes in a white metal nickel silver open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel. The case is engraved on the back “0552/520-8049, 31235100 and also engraved “Non-Lum” and also with the British broad arrow mark. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – light scratches on the back; apart from that in superb condition
Dial – the black enamel dial has specific non luminous dial and hands. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a synthetic glass
The watch measures 51mm wide x 14mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
