Most of the watches in my “Watches for restoration section” were purchased with a view to clean and service them and list them in my main section. However, when I inspect a watch if I find one or two faults then I list them here and this watch is one of those examples

This is a class A railroad grade pocket watch made by Elgin

The watch is running but has not been cleaned or serviced by us.

Movement – the high grade nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and a diamond endstone. The movement has raised gold jewel settings, gold train wheels, a gold cap on the balance and escape wheel. The movement is signed “Veritas, Elgin Ill, 23 Jewels” # 10859285 and is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a white base metal open face case, which has a screw off back and bezel with milled sides and a smooth plain finish on the back. The case is in 90% mint condition – an old sticker mark on the back which needs to be removed and light scratches

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Elgin” and is in 65% mint condition – numerous hairlines and cracks

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 55mm wide x 18mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set
