This watch was made in America but was sent to Switzerland where it was cased and sold
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and is decorated with damascening. It is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, 15 Jewels” # 17298445. The movement is in 90% mint condition – light scratches and marks
Case – the movement comes in a Swiss silver hunter case which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops crisply open to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The inner cover is signed “Ancre Ligne Droite, Geneve, 15 Rubis” The front and back covers are decorated with engraved flowers and leaves. The case has plain sides and is in 80% mint condition – rubbing to the engraving with small bruises on the sides
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Elgin”. The dial is in 95% mint condition – a small cluster of tint hairlines on the edge of the dial near the 11
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 51mm wide x 15mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch comes in a vintage leather box lined with silk and velvet.
