This is an English silver J W Benson pocket watch with a Swiss Benson movement.
The watch has clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1935
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “J W Benson, 15 Jewels, Swiss Made”. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in an English silver half hunter case by Dennison. The case has a hinged front cover, inner and back cover and the front cover pops open to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a smooth plain finish with dark blue enamel numbers on the front cover. The case is in 90% mint condition – some soft bruises on the back and marks on the inside of the back cover.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “J W Benson, London, Swiss Made”. The dial is in 100% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass over the dial and a mineral half hunter glass in the front cover
The watch measures 50mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch comes in its original leather J W Benson box lined with silk and velvet. The box does show wear to the leather and the silk is very worn in places but still a perfectly acceptable presentation box
