    About this item

This is a superb example of a gold plated hunter case made in the late 1880s in America

Movement – the nickel full plate 15 Jewel movement has a lever escapement with a patent micrometer regulator and is signed “Hampden Watch Co, Springfield, Mass” 237937, 15. The movement is decorated with damascening and the movement is in 90% mint condition – loss of some black on the lettering

Case – the movement comes in a gold plated hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case is decorated with coin edged sides and has a smooth plain finish front and back. The case is in 85% mint condition – there used to be engine turning front and back but this has worn away through use and there are some small marks and scratches however this is still an absolutely stunning case, which actually looks like and feels like solid gold but is gold plated.

Dial – the white enamel double sunk dial has a full set of blue steel hands. It is signed “Hampden Watch Co” and is in 99% mint condition – there is a little hairline near the 5

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 55mm wide x 18mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set.
