About this item
This is a classic pocket watch from the early 1900s.
The watch was made by Criterion in Switzerland and exported to England where it was housed in an elegant example of a case by Dennison. The case is better quality than normal and the watch looks and feels like a solid gold watch.
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Criterion, 15 Jewels, Swiss Made”. The movement is decorated with fish scale damascening and is in 100% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated half hunter case by Dennison, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a dark blue enamel chapter ring on the front cover and the rest of the case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition – a very clean good looking case which feels and looks like gold. There are some scratches on the inner cover however and trace enamel missing on the chapter ring.
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is in 100% mint condition, flawless with even the blue steel hands having their original blue steel bloom
The watch has a mineral glass over the glass and a mineral example in the front cover
The watch measures 50mm wide x 14mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch comes in a period leather box lined with velvet and silk from the original retailer in Reading, UK
