This is a scarce hunter pocket watch made by the South Bend Watch co, USA, circa 1904
Movement – the good quality nickel full plate movement has a lever escapement with an unusual patent regulator. The movement is signed “South Bend Watch Co, South Bend, Ind, USA, 15 Jewels” # 395538. The movement is in 90% mint condition – small marks
Case – the movement comes in a gold plated hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case is decorated with chased sides and a combination of engine turning, floral engraving and smooth plain areas on the rest of the case. The case is in 85% mint condition – very clean however the front cover rim has been repaired and reinforced and so care must be taken when closing the front cover otherwise the clasp will not catch the rim and the front cover will pop open easily
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “E. Deville, Pottsville, Pa” – the original retailer. The dial is in 99% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 54mm wide x 17mm deep
The watch is stem wound / lever set
