Antique Minton Porcelain
Minton was founded at Stoke on Trent in 1793 by Thomas Minton and became one of the most inventive English factories of the nineteenth century. Antique Minton porcelain on Antiques Boutique includes bone china tea and dessert wares, richly gilded cabinet pieces, Sevres style vases, majolica, encaustic tiles and the celebrated pate sur pate wares developed under Marc Louis Solon.
Marks changed frequently across the factory’s history, from early impressed and painted marks through to the globe mark and the plural MINTONS spelling, which helps considerably with dating. Related listings can be found under antique English porcelain and pottery, antique pottery and porcelain and antique ceramics, and the guide to identifying antique porcelain and ceramics covers marks and body types in more detail.
