About this item
This is an antique marimbaphone. An English, brass and oak decorative musical instrument, dating to the Edwardian period, circa 1910.
A striking, concussive idiophone with beautiful harmonics and quality finish. Displays a desirable aged patina and in very good order. Polished brass bars show rich golden tones, with quality knurled caps. Dashing oak stocks present fine grain interest and deep caramel hues.
Five bar marimbaphone scale, with resonance pipes set below. Plays wonderfully dulcet tones, with a delicate sustain. Supplied with a heavy and soft striking mallet. Useful under tier unites the slender, gently splayed legs
This is an attractive and inviting antique marimbaphone, related to the idiophone family alongside the xylophone and glockenspiel. Of superb quality, with a pleasing, melodious sound. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed, polished and ready to enjoy.
