Description of the Saint Christopher Pendant Necklace

This necklace features a rectangular sterling silver pendant with a raised frame and an inset central panel. Within the panel Saint Christopher is shown in low relief carrying the Christ child on his shoulder as he crosses water, the figures picked out against a dark textured ground so the scene stands out clearly despite the compact size. The reverse is flat and plain apart from the line of marks at the base which include the maker stamp NG and a full Birmingham hallmark.

The pendant is suspended from a ridged tapered bail which gives a neat transition to the chain. It hangs on a fine silver chain that is stamped 925 on the tag near the clasp, and together the chain and pendant weigh about 9.5 grams . 

Condition

There are light surface marks and some tarnish from normal wear but no serious damage or repairs. The hallmarks, chain and clasp are all intact so it presents well and can be worn immediately.
