About this item
Regency rosewood quartetto tables. A nest of four tables, each of diminishing size, fitting one into another and made to draw out of each to use separately. Well-figured tops with inset cock-beading supported by tapered end supports. Platform ends, united by stretchers and standing upon scroll feet.
After a design by Thomas Sheraton in 1803 and in the Cabinet Makers’ Dictionary of Design of 1805. The cabinet maker George Smith stated that such tables were ‘placed in the drawing room so the company did not have to rise from their seats when taking refreshment’.
