This is a pair of antique Venetian court chairs. An Italian, hand-carved oak decorative seat, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1890.

Fascinating chairs, with eye-catching detail throughout. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Deliciously heavy oak stocks present deep chestnut hues. Hand-carved craftsmanship decorates each chair.

Dome top to the stout back rest with dashing fan motif carvings. Circular forms sit atop the upright stiles, each finished with chased pattern fields. Distinctive court jester masques sit prominently to the centre, with pleasingly jovial renditions. Diamond pattern band to the lower rail, uniting the whole.
