Antique Irish, Carved Walnut Fern or Occasional Table by Robert Strahan, Dublin. Circa 1850

This fabulous carved solid walnut table is in fantastic original condition. It has an inset of figured marble top in shades of cream and ochre surrounded by a crisply carved border of flowers and foliage. The frieze of the top is moulded and set with cabochon buttons.

The table stands on three swept legs which are united at their centres by crisply carved foliage and terminate in scroll feet. Above the feet are carved swags of flowers and foliage.

The inside of one of the legs is stamped Strahan Dublin. There are exhibits of furniture, made by Strahan, at the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin. The Museum also holds historical records of the companys designs.

The condition of this antique table is amazing, it has no cracks, damage or woodworm and no repairs.
