A handsome three-piece Barcelona chair and ottoman set designed by Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich.
Lounge chairs ottoman model Barcelona. Designed in 1929, early version by Knoll International in the 1950s. Chromed flat steel, brown leather. Overlap joint screwed at the corners. Armchair dimensions: 74 x 74 x 75 cm. Dimensions of stool: 38 x 55 x 58 cm.
Literature: ReutC.1970 and produced by Knoll International. Originally created to serve as seating for the king and queen of Spain in the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition, the Barcelona chair quickly became one of the most iconic and enduring symbols of mid-century modern furniture design. This vintage set comprises two lounge chairs and one ottoman featuring seamless chrome-polished flat bar steel frames and dark green leather tufted upholstery, the leather is of the highest quality with no wear tears or scuffs support straps, and tabs. The underside cloth has been replaced with a twill cloth . The frames are finished to exceptional finish and again show very little wear, slight surface scratches.
Dimensions listed are of the chair. Dimensions of the ottoman are H 15.5 in. x W 24.5 in. x D 22 in.
These chairs were purchased privately from a renowned English architect and his wife who purchased them new in 1971. They bear no Knoll labels. Knoll only started to stamp the frames in 1997.

Condition : Very good, signs of general wear for chairs and ottoman ...... 50 years old, they have had an easy life.
