    About this item

A large, early 19th century, dark grey marble mortar with a double ended, boxwood pestle. This is probably from Southern France and it dates from c.1820. The marble has wonderful graining ranging in colour from a very dark grey to a much paler, brownish grey and the boxwood pestle has a lovely golden patina. There is a small chip to one of the exterior of one of the lobes of the mortar but otherwise it is in very good condition. Both ends of the pestle have cracks which are the result of shrinkage in the wood over the centuries but it is still in usable condition.

Dimensions: Mortar: Width 36cm. Height 20cm. Pestle: Length 35cm. Diameter 7.5cm.

Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £50. Most of Western Europe add £25
