Rare framed photograph of a racing pigeon by Anthony Bolton dated between 1942 and the early 1950s. This is an early one of his signed Photographic portraits still in original period frame . Further identified as "NURP 56 or 66DCC379 , Pigeon featured must have been bred in the year 1956 or 66 the letters following these numbers usually refer to the name of the club it belongs to eg; Derby Championship Club, the numbers following the capital letters refers to the numbers issued to that particular club/organisation, for example the nestmate of this bird would be ring number 378 or 380,
NURP stands for "National Union of Racing Pigeons" and the number was 56 or 66.DCC.379 (The National Pigeon Service (NPS) was a volunteer civilian organization formed in Britain in 1938 as result of representations made to the Committee of Imperial Defence and the British Government by Major W. H. Osman. During 1939-45 over 200,000 young pigeons were given to the services by the British pigeon breeders of the NPS. The birds were used by the Royal Air Force and the Army and Intelligence Services, Special Section of the Army Pigeon Service (which was formed in World War I by Lt. Col. A.H.Osman). CONDITION ISSUES:- the gilt slip needs cleaning as does the glass. The image has slipped but sent unopened. One image is photoshop enhanced due to filthy glass
