An interesting Chinoiserie lacquer plaque with four small carved giltwood panels: two with birds and blossom; one with a mythical fènghuáng bird or phoenix; one with scholarly Buddhist objects including the depiction of an archaicistic shaped vase.
The plaque formed from what was probably once one of the hinged doors of a Chinese lacquer ancestral shrine or table cabinet.
