About this item
Nice 18th century Worcester mask jug with moulded cabbage leaf detail to the body and printed in the Parrot Pecking Fruit pattern, c.1775, with a geometric border inside and outside the rim. On one side of the main image is a spray of elderberries and a trundling beetle and on the other a bunch of gooseberries above a snail. Around the neck are some small details of fruits.
Unmarked, reference Worcester Blue & White Porcelain, Branyon, French & Sandon, section II.B.23.
It measures 20.5cm (8") high, 18cm (7") wide including handle and 14cm (5 1/2") across the body.
Condition is very good; there is a very small 2mm. chip to the tip of the spout and a nibble just above it. No other damage or restoration and surface wear is very light. The printing of the main body is very sharp but it has run a bit to the decoration around the neck and the rim borders.
