POLYCHROME AESTHETIC TRANSFERWARE SOUP PLATE
MELBOURNE PATTERN
Gildea and Walker Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England c. 1883
This Victorian aesthetic 9 inch soup plate is transfer printed in Brown and polychrome painted in the brightest display we have seen in this desirable pattern.
The pattern features delightful Japanesque geometric designs mixed with exotic palm trees and other tropicals. A shoreline with sailing vessels set to the horizon while a large flock of birds fly by.
An inset cartouche of a quarter moon rising with the north star beneath. Two Bats are in flight below the scene. This pattern has everything going for it.
Condition is Great. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
