About this item
BLUE TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
CONGO PATTERN
Forester and Hulme, Sutherland Pottery
Fenton, Staffordshire England c. 1883
This Victorian aesthetic movement 14 1/4“ long x 11 1/4” wide platter is transfer printed in a very rich deep dark blue.
The pattern features outrageous exotic birds in four panels and flora wrapping around this exceptional platter. Exciting geometric designs separate each scene. The well of the platter is a plethora of geometric whimsies along with a rarely seen transfered Pelican.
Never used and the condition is great with no chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
