This is a rare example of a pocket watch made by the Aurora Watch Co, Illinois. The Aurora Watch Company was founded in Illinois 1883 and its aim was to get one jeweller in each town retailing their watches. This is one of their Made expressly for the Guild examples and also has the added attraction of coming in a highly decorative case.

Movement – the gilt full plate movement has a lever escapement and 11 Jewels. The movement is signed “Made Expressly for the Guild, 11 Jewels” 120726 and is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a white metal silverode case which has a screw off back and bezel. The case has a smooth plain finish on the sides with a finely engraved back showing a pastoral scene surrounded by floral engraving. The case is in 95% mint condition – a superb example

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Aurora Watch Co” and is in 80% mint condition – numerous hairlines

The watch has a thick bevelled mineral glass

The watch measures 59mm wide x 20mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set
