Antique calendar moonphase pocket watch c1890

This is a Swiss pocket watch made circa 1890.

Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a lever escapement and is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a gunmetal open face case, which has a hinged inner, back and snap on bezel. The back cover is stamped SSco – Stauffer and hand engraved “A E Tippsen, Marden”

The case has a gilt bezel holding the glass. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – the gun metal has some uneven patches of colour on the back.

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of gilt hands and pointers. By the 9 is the month function and this is changed manually using the corresponding pin by the side of the dial

The day and date functions change automatically every 24 hours and can also be altered manually by their corresponding wheels. The moon function changes automatically every 48 hours but can also be set manually using its corresponding pin.

The dial is decorated with gold enamel points and is signed “Swiss Made”

 The dial is in 98% mint condition –  the gold moon on the revolving moon function dial is gold but with indistinct detail.

The watch measures 49mm wide x 17mm deep

The watch is stem wound / pin set
