    About this item

This watch is sold in our Watches for restoration section and does not come with a warranty. If you are looking for watch with a full warranty, please go to our Stock page or ask for assistance to find what you are looking for.

It does not come with any warranty against the fusee chain breaking

This is an English silver pocket watch which has Chester hallmarks for 1868

The watch has a good chain and balance and will run but gains around 5 minutes an hour

It has not been cleaned or serviced.

Movement – the gilt 3/4 plate lever movement is fusee driven with a lever escapement. It has a compensated balance wheel and a stop / start lever which stops and starts the balance and consequently the centre seconds on the dial. The movement is in 80% mint condition  - some small marks and scratches and missing two small screws around the winding post collet

Case – the movement comes in an English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The watch is wound and set from the back, and the movement is accessed from the back also. The case is decorated with faded coin edged sides and a smooth plain finish on the back. The inner cover is engraved “Mr T Maiden, Heaton Norris” The case is in 80% mint condition – light wear only

Dial – the off white enamel dial has a pair of gilt hands and a superb example of a blue steel centre seconds hand. The dial is in 95% mint condition – several hairlines around the bottom edge hidden by (and probably caused by) the bezel.

The watch has a mineral glass

The watch measures 54mm wide x 18mm deep

The watch is key wound / key set and comes with an antique watch key
