About this item
This is an American pocket watch made by Elgin. It is known as a dress watch as it was designed to be slimmer and lighter; ideal for waist coats / vests made of lighter material, which became fashionable in the interwar years.
Movement – the nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and a micrometer regulator. The movement is decorated with damascening and is signed “Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA, 15 Jewels. Adjusted” 37332003. The movement is in 90% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in an Elgin 10K Rolled gold plate case, which has a snap on back and bezel. The case has carved sides with a smooth plain finish on the back and is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the silvered dial has a beautiful set of gilt hands, with raised gold coloured numbers. It is signed ”Elgin” and is in 99% mint condition – light tarnish
The watch has a plastic glass
The watch measures 45mm wide x 10mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
