About this item
This is a superb example of an English gold watch. The watch is much larger than usual with a thicker bezel and better quality movement than usual found in English watches. The large gold case has hallmarks for Chester 1917
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “Warranted English, 16 Jewels, 165891”. The movement is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in a much larger than normal gold case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a thicker bezel than usual and the case has a smooth plain finish. The case is in 90% mint condition – 1 small mark on the front cover and a small bruise on the side but overall a superb case
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is signed “Thos Russell & Son, Liverpool”. The dial is in 99% mint condition
The watch has a mineral glass
The watch measures 55mm wide x 13mm deep
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch comes in a period leather box lined with silk and velvet
