About this item
This is an English made pocket watch made by an eminent Victorian watch maker, French of the Royal Exchange. The watch has clear hallmarks for London 1886
Movement – the English gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and is signed “French, Royal Exchange, London” # 23571. The movement is in 95% mint condition – tiny marks
Case – the movement comes in an English silver Hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case is numbered 23571 and is decorated with an engraved Dragon motif on the front. The rest of the case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – some light wear
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 90% mint condition – 3 small hairlines on the edge of the dial on the 9 and some little flakes on the sub seconds dial.
The watch measures 51mm wide
The watch is stem wound / pin set
The watch has a mineral glass
