About this item
This is an English silver pocket watch with clear hallmarks for Birmingham 1912
These cases were made by a company called Dennison and were such good quality that watch manufacturers from all over the world made their watch movements the correct size so that they would fit into these cases and be retailed in the UK. Such manufactures included Omega, Rolex, JW Benson and in this case Waltham USA. The movement would have been made in America but sent to England where it was then cased and sold
Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has 7 Jewels and a lever setting. The movement is signed “American Waltham, USA, Traveller” 19329855 and is in 95% mint condition
Case – the movement comes in an English silver half hunter case which weighs 2 ounces and is marked 2oz on the inner cover. These cases were just a bit more special than usual. The case has a hinged inner, back and the front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in.
The case has a smooth plain finish with dark blue enamel numbers. The case is in 95% mint condition – small marks on the back
Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 100% mint condition
The watch comes with a mineral glass over the dial
The watch is stem wound / stem set
The watch measures 52mm wide x 15m deep
The watch comes in a period leather and silk lined box.
