    About this item

An interesting antique silver-gilt table clock, made from an early 18th century Verge Pocket Watch. The movement has Egyptian pillars and elaborate scrolling. The wide cock is elaborately pierced and engraved. The movement is signed FASCH LUBECK No2542. The movement is set into a silver stand, designed as an imaginative pair of Chinoiserie Dragons biting a pearl? The lower base presumably having a glass or crystal dome to protect the movement. Chinoiserie art was very fashionable during the early to mid 18th century and quite rare on early clocks and watches. Sadly this piece is as found and I do not have a key. The movement appears intact with the original fusee chain and spring, although it has not been tested and is sold as requiring repair or service.
