About this item
This is a silver chatelaine and locket but it does not have any assay marks for silver. It has been tested and is sold as silver.
The silver chatelaine is decorated with striped engraving and then set with black niello enamel. There is also gilded detailing to complement the niello
The chatelaine has a dog clip with several curb links which leads to a silver mount. This holds two chains of silver and gilt curb links and long two piece solid silver and niello links. These are supported by another silver mount.
Hanging from this is a two piece silver and niello locket with a gilt ball motif edge and gilt on silver shield on the front.
The chatelaine measures 149mm long from the dog clip to the far edge of the locket and the two silver mounts are 24mm wide
The locket measures 26mm wide x 6mm deep
The chain and fob are in 90% mint condition – some light losses to the niello.
