18s 21 Jewel Elgin pocket watch in a glass salesman case c1904

Most of the watches in my “Watches for restoration section” were purchased with a view to clean and service them and list them in my main section. However, when I inspect a watch if I find one or two faults then I list them here and this watch is one of those examples

The watch is running but has not been cleaned or serviced by us.

This is a HUNTER movement cased in an open face case.

Movement – the high grade nickel ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement with a micrometer regulator and a diamond endstone. The movement has raised gold jewel settings, gold train wheels, a gold cap escape wheel. The movement is signed “Elgin Watch Co, USA, 21 Jewels, Adj 5 positions” # 10513026 and is in 90% mint condition – some scratches

Case – the movement comes in a white base metal open face Sales man display case, which has a snap on back and front with a glass over the dial and on the back also. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 90% mint condition – light build up of surface scratches

Dial – the white enamel dial is double sunk and has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial is signed “Elgin” and is in 99% mint condition – numerous hairlines and cracks

The watch has a bevelled mineral glass front and back

The watch measures 52mm wide x 18mm deep

The watch is stem wound / lever set
