    About this item

    J. Sewill Silver Pocket Watch with Chain

    Hallmarked for London 1890

A silver open face pocket watch, made by the famous watchmaker J. Sewill and hallmarked for London 1890. The pocket watch is complete with a nice chain.

Dial: The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals with outer minute divisions. The dial has blued hands and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial is signed in the upper centre: “J. Sewill, 30 Cornhill, London”.

Movement: The nice quality movement has a three-quarter plate and blued screws. The movement is signed: “J. Sewill, 30 Cornhill, London, 61 South Castle Street, Liverpool”. The movement is in great working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.

Case: The watch lies in a silver open face case with a smooth finish. The inner side of the case and cuvette are hallmarked for silver London 1890. The cuvette is decoratively signed: “To Arthur Carder, On Attaining his Majority. 17th Sept 1896, From His Father”.

The pocket watch is complete with a nice double albert chain with a gold coloured front presentation plaque. The silver Fob is engraved: “Mansfield, Presented to George Jones for Services as Secretary 1899”. The Fob is hallmarked for Silver Birmingham 1897.

Signed: J. Sewill – Hallmarked for London 1890
