Large silver half hunter pocket watch with chronograph by Smiths c1890

This is a Swiss made pocket watch, made for and retailed by S Smith & Son

Movement – the gilt ¾ plate movement has a lever escapement and has hidden steel work for the start, stop, fly back and reset chronograph function with a 60 minute register.

The movement is signed “S Smith & Son, 9 Strand London, Watchmakers to the Admiralty, No 266723, Swiss Made”. The movement is in 90% mint condition – some small scratches

Case – the movement comes in a large silver half hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open crisply to 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case has a smooth plain finish and has dark blue roman numerals on the front.  The case has a gold button for the chronograph function. The case is in 90% mint condition – some small bruises on the back and sides

Dial – the white enamel dial has a full set of gilt half hunter hands, sweep centre seconds hands and subsidiary hands. The dial is in 99% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass over the dial and in the front cover

The watch is stem wound / pin set

The watch measures 53mm wide x 16mm deep

The watch comes in a leather vintage box lined with silk and velvet
