    About this item

Mint 18 Kt Yellow Gold Smallest Pocket Watch Swiss 1860

An 18 Kt yellow gold open face pocket watch, 18mm in diameter which makes it one of the smallest watches in the world. I am sending you as well a description from Sotheby’s that they sold the smallest watch in the world on the 14th of July 2020 for £9800. The smallest watch in the world was 12mm in diameter. This watch is 18 mm in diameter so it is one of the smallest.

This watch is so rare that it is very difficult to fix a price to it. As small watches like this do not appear often on the market. To find watches of less than 20 mm in diameter is very rare. Even today with computers searches it is still difficult to find small watches. They were all done by hand which requires serious craftmanship.

This watch has just been cleaned and service by my talented watchmaker so it is in great working condition. As well, I am adding for you the description from my watchmaker so you can see what he has done. There was no key to the watch as it is so small. My talented watchmaker hand crafted a key to specially fit this movement. The spring is very small so the winding must be very gentle and one has to be careful not to overwind it.

DIAL: The white enamel dial has Roman numerals and gold hands. The clean dial is easy to read.

MOVEMENT: The Lepine-style cylinder movement is in very good working condition; however, we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.

CASE: The watch lies in an 18 Kt yellow gold open face case with an engraved finish with a blue enamel monogram free cartouche. The inner side of the case is signed: CLD for the casemakers initials and numbered: 11661.

    Diameter: 18 mm – Weight: 7.3 g

    Swiss Made – Circa 1860
