Silver J.W. BENSON Pocket Watch London 1897
A high-quality J.W. Benson top wind open-face pocket watch hallmarked for London 1897. This pocket watch has just been cleaned and serviced by my watchmaker and is in excellent working condition!
Dial: The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and a subsidiary second’s dial at the six. The dial has golden hands. The dial is signed:" J.W. Benson, London" in the upper centre.
Movement: The English Benson ¾ plate movement has blued screws. The movement is signed: "The Bank Watch, Best London Make and numbered: 870262, J.W. Benson, 62 and 64 Ludgate Hill, London. The movement is in great working condition however we cannot guarantee accuracy for an antique pocket watch.
Case: The pocket watch lies in a silver open-face case with a rubbed engine-turned finish with a monogram cartouche. The inner side of the case and the inner side of the cuvette are both hallmarked for London 1897. The case is numbered 865 with the case maker JWB. The name Ronald J Sutherland, 7 January 1899 is engraved on the cuvette.
