This is a very rare movement from 1810 which has had a specially commissioned case made much later. The case has hallmarks for London 1977
The watch is working and will keep time but has not been cleaned or serviced.
The watch has a rare way of winding. To wind you pull the cap on the stem out and push it back in, thus using the crank mechanism under the dial to wind the watch.
Typically these movements were made by Viner, London but there is no signature on this movement. However it is rare and thus warranted the expense of having a silver case made for it; especially one which had to incorporate the unusual winding mechanism
Movement – the gilt bridge movement has a duplex escapement and is signed “London” and also 18 under the dial. The movement is in 90% mint condition – the hour wheel under the dial has a solder repair
Case – the movement comes in a top quality English silver open face case, which has a hinged back and bezel. The case has London hallmarks for 1977 (inc Queen Elizabeth Jubilee mark) and case makers marks for LAO.
The case has coin edged sides and a smooth plain finish. The case is in 95% mint condition
Dial – the silvered dial has a full set of blue steel hands. The dial has guilloche sun burst engraving. The dial is in 80% mint condition – the dial is scratched and faded
The watch has a domed mineral glass
The watch measures 51mm x 18mm
The watch is pull wind and key set (comes with a key)
