Silver half hunter pocket watch by LeRoy & Fils c1870

This is a French made pocket watch made for the English market. LeRoy & Fils were makers to the French royal household and also the French navy. All their watches are quality pieces. The watch comes with its original box

This is a smaller sized half hunter perfectly suitable for lighter suits or waistcoats or for those who do not want a heavier watch

Movement – the light gilt bridge movement has a lever escapement with wolf teeth winding wheels with a frosted finish. The movement is in 95% mint condition

Case – the movement comes in a silver half hunter case, which has a hinged inner, back and front cover. The front cover pops open to just under 90 degrees when you press the winder in. The case is signed on the inner cover “Le Roy & Fils, To the Queen, 211 Regent Street London, 13 & 15 Palais Royal, Paris, No 47577”. The back of the case is engraved with a garter and lion and the motto in Latin, Nil Consire Sibi and scroll initials TWM

The front of the case has a blue enamel chapter ring. The case has a smooth plain finish and is in 95% mint condition – light loss of definition on the engraving on the back

Dial – the white enamel has a full set of blue steel hands and is in 100% mint condition

The watch has a mineral glass in the front cover and a synthetic one over the dial

The watch measures 41mm wide x 11mm deep

The watch is stem wound / pin set

The watch comes in its original leather box lined with velvet and silk. The box is signed "LeRoy & Fils" and decorated with a row of medals in gold print. The lid is engraved Marcel.
